For Lexington City Council
Neighbors first.
Practical leadership.
A stronger Lexington.
I’m Heidi Fust, and I’m running to bring a thoughtful, people-centered voice to the Lexington City Council, one grounded in listening, responsible decisions, and genuine care for our community.

Local leadership should feel local.
City government is closest to our daily lives. It shapes the streets we travel, the spaces we share, the services we count on, and how confidently we plan for the future.
I’m running because Lexington deserves leadership that is approachable, transparent, and ready to do the practical work. I will listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and keep the community at the center of every decision.
Focused on what matters
Four priorities.
One shared community.
The strongest communities are built through steady attention to people, resources, and the everyday details that shape quality of life.
Community connection & growth
Strengthen the relationships that make Lexington feel like home while supporting thoughtful growth that serves the people who live here.
Transparent, responsive government
Make city decisions easier to understand, welcome residents’ questions, and communicate clearly before, during, and after important changes.
Responsible city spending
Treat every public dollar with care, ask practical questions, and balance today’s needs with Lexington’s long-term health.
Safe, well-maintained neighborhoods
Keep attention on the everyday essentials, from dependable services and cared-for public spaces to safe, welcoming neighborhoods.
Leadership people can feel.
A council member should be visible, prepared, and willing to work through the details. My promise is simple: be present, be honest, and keep listening.
Listen closely
Create room for residents to share what they see, what they need, and what they hope Lexington can become.
Explain clearly
Communicate the reasons, tradeoffs, and next steps behind city decisions in language people can understand.
Follow through
Bring steady attention to commitments, ask for accountability, and keep the community informed about progress.

Experience in action
Safety, stewardship, and practical problem-solving.
My work has taught me to look carefully, plan responsibly, and protect what matters most, people, resources, and the systems a community depends on. I bring that same hands-on mindset to public service.

Practical experience.
A caring approach.
My professional background brings together environmental health and safety, forestry, maintenance, and facilities leadership in medical manufacturing. Every day, I balance the needs of people, budgets, systems, safety, and long-term planning, experience that translates directly to thoughtful public service.
I lead with honesty, fairness, and empathy. I believe the best solutions come from listening to the people closest to the issue, asking good questions, and working together with respect.
Outside of work, I feel most at home in nature, among Minnesota’s trees, off-grid camping, kayaking rivers, or searching for agates. That appreciation for the places we call home strengthens my commitment to Lexington and the people who live here.
City government works best when people feel heard, decisions are clear, and public resources are cared for responsibly.
